Power seat swap / 99 excab to 01 S-Crew

I have a 2001 F150 Supercrew that came with non powered seats. I swapped out the power seats from my 1999 F-150 extended cab. The swap bolts right in. I kept the 99 pigtail in order to tie in with the power seat lead from the 01 Supercrew. Can anyone help me with several questions:

1. Does any one know if an 01 Supercrew without power seats has a power seat lead tucked away in its wiring harness and where I could find it?

2. If the 01 Supercrew did not come with a powerseat lead, does anyone have any helpfull hints as to how to get one, either salvage yard, OEM, or aftermarket?

3. Does anyone have any helpfull hints as to building your own out og 10 or 12 guage wire and tieing it with the fuse box? Thanks, BW

Not sure if a 2003 model would have similar electrical, but I'd say that you should have a C210/C219 Connector in your driver side kick panel. It's an 8-Pin Connector that's got DG, RD/BK, BK, LB/BK, BN/LB, BK, VT/LB, & VT/LG (well at least for the passenger side). See picture...

Click here for some PDF wire diagrams that I found...

PowerSeat.zip

Hope this helps,

Tony

Great stuff! But here's my dillema. I went to several dealers and they said no can do. I called the major all truck, all ford yada yada salvage yards and they said the same. So I built my own harness extention out of 14 guage wire (same as the existing pigtail. No information was available in my Haynes repair manual, but the owners guide stated the pedal adjustment and the power seats run off of the # 112 30 amp maxi fuse in the engine compartment. I ops checked the power seats with a battery charger and they worked as advertised, I also ops checked the pedal adjusters and they were fine also. I tapped the power seat leads inro the pedal adjustment leads and nothing happened. Tomorrow I will link one lead to a 12V DC source and groung the other and see what that "Leads" Thanks, BW.

PS, I also did notice several multi pin connectors when I removed the kick panels on the left and right side. If anyone has any info on these, that would be great. Thanks, BW.

EZ...

If you check out the PDF labeled Power_Distro_13-4.pdf, it is a wiring diagram for the power seats and adjustable pedals. As you can see (and as you noted), the seats and pedals run off of fuse #112 (30A). The power seats are spliced into the power lead just ahead of the C210 connector at splice (S298). Like I said before, you should notice the C210 connector in your kick panel as depicted in the picture (the picture is for the passenger side, but the driver side should be in the same location, just mirrored).

At worst if you can't find the connector, it sounds like you just need to run a 12 Ga wire to +12V constant source (battery?). Be sure to put in a 30A fuse.

As for making the connector, if you can't physically visit a bone yard to put the connector out of a dead car, you'll be forced to cut off the OEM connector on your power seat and replace it with a standard crimp-on bullet style or blade style connector. Also, don't sell yourself short when looking in the bone yard for a connector, by checking out the Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury cars (Grand Marquis, Crown Vics, Expeditions, Navigators, etc...) Ford usually uses the same connectors.

Tony PTX,
Thankx for all of your help so far, but I'm still not out of the woods. according to the 13-4 pdf, the C210 connector handles the juice for the left side power seat. I pulled What looked like the C210 connector off of the driver's side kick pannel and then I disconnected it. about 3 -5 seconds later, a clicking noise began (it sounded like the old style emergency flashers). I put the connectors back together and now I'm perplexerd. Can you please e-mail yor phone # to me at (elmer.wolfe@travis.af.mil) and I will call when its convient for you. Thanks for all you've done so far. BW.

STOP!!!

Lemme do a little more research on this....

BTW....you should (as common practice) NEVER unplug connectors while you still have the battery connected. It's just not smart. There are dozens of things that could have gone wrong. It's OK to prod around with a test light or DMM, but who knows, you could have activated the airbag system or something by accident.

As for what you may have found out, apparently the driver side and passenger side are not exact mirror sides like I originally thought.

The driver side has a C248, C260, & C215 connector. None of which have power seat lines on....

What you may have unplugged was either the Transfer Case Electronic Shift on the Fly (4x4 model maybe?) or power to the CSM.

To be continued...
