Electric door lock - actuator removal

I have a 99 F150 that I am needing to replace the right side actuator. I got the door panels off but how do you get the old one out. The new one seems to have a clip. I do not see any rivets to drill out. The Ford tech advised me to stick a flathead screwdriver in and break the clip off.

Any help would GREATLY be appreciated !!!

Thanks in advance,

TommyRox in Texas

If it is the same as my 2000 XLT scab, I just did it last night, same side. Use a screwdriver to release the clip tension, and slide the actuator off the two rails on the latch...You may have to rotate the pin switch connector out of the way a little to gain needed clearance...

Read here ...

This is a common repair. The most useful post is here:

The board search feature is your friend.

Note that you don't have to break anything to get the actuator away from the door catch mechanism. You simply slide them apart after prying up slightly on the locking tab.
