Question Determing Interior Color...

Good morning,

This is probably an easy question for someone out there. Can you tell me how to determine the interior color of a 2001 F-150 XLT? My father owns it, and he wants me to add Autolamps to it. However, he lives a state away, and I need to order the parts and bring them to him the next time I visit.

Is there a color code or something listed on the door jamb that he could look at and tell me? I know it is a darker gray, but I think there are two shades of gray in the 2001 interiors of F-150s.

Any help would be appreciated.....Glen

On the driver's side door jamb you should see a sticker. The numbers beneath the bar code contain info of how the vehicle left the plant, beginning with exterior paint (EXT PNT). What you want is the SECOND character listed under INT TR (interior trim)
The first character is the type of seats - leather, cloth, bench, captains chairs etc. The SECOND character is interior color:

Some Interior Color Codes:

X - Medium Prairie Tan (F-150, F-250, Explorer/Mountaineer, Ranger)
2 - Medium Graphite (Econoline, F-150, F-250, Explorer/Mountaineer, Ranger)
S - Willow Green (F-150, F-250, Explorer/Mountaineer, Ranger)
D - Denim Blue (Econoline)
P - Mocha (Econoline)
N - Cordovan (F-150, F-250)
Medium Parchment (Econoline)
E - Dark Denim Blue (Explorer/Mountaineer, Ranger)
T - Dark Graphite (F-150,Navigator/Expedition,Ranger)
R - Dark Denim (F-150, Windstar)

So if it's a gray interior the SECOND character is probably either T (dark) or 2 (medium)

It might look like this:

INT TR
ET

In the above example on an F-150, it left the plant with a leather 40/60 bench seat and a Dark Graphite interior. The code E2 means it left the plant with a leather 40/60 bench seat and a Medium Graphite interior.

'H' is listed as Medium Parchment... for a Windstar... I reference a 99 F150/F250 workshop manual and that color name is not listed for the F-Series back then. It apparently became available later. (As listed in my earlier post, for an Econoline, N stands for medium Parchment.)

Here are some more, listed for a Mercury Villager, that may have become available for post 99 F-Series trucks:

K - Portland (Villager)
C - Mink (Villager)
D - Cactus (Villager)
