instrument cluster problem
I'll try to word this differently than my last post with the hope of a reply.
I have a 2000 4.6 4x4 with 57,000 miles and the instrument cluster is acting up. It will work great for about an hours worth of driving and then the speedo will get stuck at one speed. If I stop the truck the speedo will go down real roughly. The gauge sweep will not work once this starts to act up. If it sits overnight it will be fine for a little while and then do the same thing.
Now the battery needle is acting up and the gas needle will flutter. The only thing that I did was removed the needles to do some custom work and replace them. They have plenty of clearance and are not getting caught on anything. The cluster was also removed from the truck. Could it be the pin connectors? Did I help a problem along that had not shown up yet?
Any help would be great, I really don't want to have to buy a new cluster.
Oh, one more thing the first code that flashes at me in the test mode is (EE 02) then (FAIL). Related?
Thanks!
