Pats
I really need some help and I have poured through these boards to find an answer that is unique to my prob. But, no luck yet.
I bought my 97 F150 XLT when they first came out, after the 97 Super Bowl ya know. My PATS system did work until I got in it last year and the door locks went crazy by cycling up and down for a few seconds. The power door locks will not work now by using either of our remote keypads. The anti-theft light does not work nor does the auto-lock engage when you put the tranny in drive. But, the door locks do work by using the manual buttons on the door.
I have checked all the fuses, repaced the batteries in the keypads, disconnected/reconnected the battery, read my manual for how to reprogram(did not find anything in this), cycled the ignition 5x,6x,7x,8x, checked the box by the parking brake, ran around the truck three times.
Is it screwed up enough that I am going to have to take it to the dealer or did I miss something on the boards.
By the way what is fobs?
I will be eternally grateful to anyone who can help me out or point me in the right direction.

Ok try reprogramming the Autolock relock.
Insert the key and turn it to off. it must be in the OFF position. If you are not sure start the truck and then turn the key back till it turns off but no further. You must complete these following steps within 30 seconds.
1- Turn the key from the off position to the run position.
2- Press the power door UNLOCK button 3 times.
3- Turn the ignition switch from the run position to the off position
4- Press the UNLOCK button 3 times.
5- Turn the ignition switch to run.
Ok if the RAP module entered the enable / disable mode it will chirp the horn once.
If it did not repeat the process. If after a couple of times it still doesn't chirp one of two things is wrong. Either you are taking more than 30 seconds or the RAP module is deffective.
Ok lets assume that it chirped.
Part two
Press the UNLOCK once then the LOCK.
This should be followed by a chirp of the horn. This indicates that the RAP has disabled the auto lock. If you get a chirp and a horn you you have enabled it. If you get no chirp or horn then something is amiss with the RAP module or its wiring.
Once we get over this hurdle we can have a look at the fobs.

A fobs is the plural of fob. It is a decorative peice that hangs from a key. So the remote key pads are called fobs.
RAP is Remote Anti-theft Personality module. It is the brains of the alarm system. If it would not program the Autolock relock then it is of no use to try and get the fobs to work. I believe that the module is defective or there is a short or an open in the circuitry. It could also be a deffective break switch. A quick question; does the dome light turn on when you lift the door handle?
JMC.

Yes, the dome light does come on when the door handle is lifted.
Could the door locks going up and down rapidly been a cause to the RAP module going out?
I visually checked the wires coming out of the RAP module and made sure the connections were still plugged in good.

Sorry it took so long to get back to you. The door handle switch sends a signal to the GEM to turn on the dome lights. It just means that the GEM is doing it's job. I still suspect the RAP module is deffective.
