lighting problems
2001 supercrew 4X4 5.4L 169000 miles.
While towing my bass boat yesterday, I seam to have gotten an elictrical problem.
1 No dash lights.
2 No parking lights.
3 Break lights do work.
4 Turn signals work.
5 Headlight Hi/Low work.
6 Fog lights work.
Ok now here is the big one. When I got home I could not turn off the headlights! I had to unhook the battery cable.
Could this be a fuse or do I have a real problem?

I dont really have an answer for you but...
The lights not working sounds like a fuse. I had a friend blow a fuse and the dash lights and brake lights were on the same circuit so I can see that being a fuse problem.
The headlights staying on sounds like a relay sticking closed. Now I'm not sure what would have caused this but I would look in your owners manual and see where the fuse and relay are for the dash lights and headlights. I would then pull the relay and if there is the same relay in the box pull it and plug it into where the headlight relay is. Then check the headlights but I wouldnt crank it, just turn the switch on to see if that cured the problem. If so go to the autoparts store and get a new one. Then check out the fuse and see if it is blown. It could have just been the relay or maybe the relay somehow blew the fuse.
I know its not much help but its a place to start. Hopefully since all the circuits are fused it is just a simple fix. Good luck!!!
