GEM and windshield wipers

My GF has a 91 F150 and the windshield wipers don't want to work all the time. From the searches I've done on this forum (thanks everyone), I think it's the GEM. Anyone have any recommendations for a good, cheap place to find one?

TIA

BTT - Come on, I know someone out there has replaced the GEM. Where did you get it? From a dealer? Any idea on cost.

Thanks.

Have you also checked out the multi function switch. Someone just posted pictures of one he had taken apart. I would suspect the switch before I would blame the gem.

try here:

it's about three pages back

It is only pics of the switch taken apart and how to do it. It might help you if you wanted to clean the contacts in yours before you spent money on a new one or a GEM. As you can se the multifunction switch has a lot of moving parts and connectors and I think that makes it a more natural canidate for failure than the GEM which is a solid state component. Thats not to say that GEM's are bullet proof just it seem that the mechanical stuff is les reliable over time than the electronic stuff.
