Dome Lite

I am having troulbe with my dome light staying on after getting in or out of the truck. It shuts off after awhile but i think it is the battery saver relay that is doing that. I can stut off the light by pulling the C/B but it goes back on as soon as I push it in again.
Some days it will do it and some days not. Does any one have any ideas on trouble shooting this? I think it does it on the passenger side.

Time to lubricate your door handles with WD 40. The switch for the dome light is in the door handles on the '97 and up F-150's, not on the door jamb like the older trucks. If you do a search, you'll find plenty of posts on this one. Fortunately, it's a pretty simple fix.

I was just going to post a similar problem although in my case it's my 99 f250 superduty.

My dome light will stay on after I start it and stay on for a while when I'm driving. Eventually it will go off but then come back on again (very anoying at night). Also, my door ajar light stays on usually while this is going on evern though I check them and they seem to be closed tightly.

I this the same switch on the door handle as the f150??

Exactly where do I want to direct my wd40 spray??

Thanks

Dome light/Door ajar

In regard to the dome light or door ajar light staying on. The switch is in the latch in the door frame, not the handle. The latch strikes the the locking plate on the door jamb and in turn depresses the switch. You just need to spray copious amounts of WD-40 on the latch. I guess the latch has a tendency to stick. It just happened to me. I sprayed the WD-40 in both latches and now the switch works as it should.
