98 Lariat Door Remote Help Needed

I have a 98 Lariat (50th Anniv Edition - if that makes a difference). I need to replace the Door remote clicker. I believe my broken one (key ring is broken - still activates the door, but hard to keep up with) is original with the truck. It is an older style with a relatively large battery and Lock, Unlock and Option buttons. It does not look like the newer ones.

I bought 2 new ones that were supposed to be for a 98 model F150. The info off the back of them is:
3BF87B-15K601-AB
4BF87B-15K601-BB

I can get the truck to go into program mode by following the instructions in the manual, but these new remotes will still not work.

Does anyone know if I need different remotes (numbers please) or does anyone have these particular remotes that work with a 98.

I appreciate any info and would really like to get new remotes to work with this truck.

Thanks...

they offered several diff types. Designated with names like "system 6" or "System 7"you neeed to make sure that the remotes they get you look exactly the same as the old one. Took me several days and a bunch of dealers to finally find a replacement for my '99 XLT.

For what it's worth - the OEM remotes for a '98 F150 have three buttons - a lock, unlock, and Panic Alarm symbol.

The remote that came with your truck sounds like an aftermarket remote keyless entry or alarm system. Ford does offer aftermarket systems that are installed by the dealership - you should be able to find the control module sounted somewhere under the dash and contact the mfr for a replacement remote.
