electronic tailgate/cover lock
electronic tailgate/cover lock
I have a SnugLid SL tonneau cover on my 03 Screw. The latching mechanism is much like the door latches, and the key is needed only to unlock the lid. A spring automatically pops up the lid once unlocked. What I want to do is install a an electric lock actuator that unlocks the lid (the spring then pops it open). Snuglid offers this as an option, but I don’t want or need another key fob.
What I want to do is “count” the number of times the unlock is pressed (three times if attached to the drivers side or two times if attached to the passenger side). This way, I can pop the lid by pressing the unlock on the Ford keyless entry a certain number of times (or from the door switches inside).
- Does anyone have this knowledge to share?
- If I create a counter circuit, is there continual power available or will the counter be reset at random states each time I turn on the key?
I already have the actuator, I thought I could at least hardwire a switch for now from within the cab.
Thanks for any advice.
