King Ranch Electrical Problem
King Ranch Electrical Problem
I had the the darndest thing happen to my KR last evening. I went outside during the Super Bowl half time and the interior and running board lights were on on my truck, then they went off. I waited a few seconds and they came back on. They kept cycling off and on every 20 or 30 seconds.
I haven't driven the truck for over a week, haven't even opened the door. I figure it has to be some glitch in the remote lock circuitry, but why did it pick that time to happen. It was cold and damp out, maybe moisture somehow got in the outside keypad???
I disconnected the ground cable from the battery and called the stealership this morning and dropped the truck off this evening. It will probably be one of those things that will not repeat for the mechanics.
Has anyone else had this happen to their truck?? I hope this isn't a bad omen

I haven't seen or heard of this one Jayhawker. Best of luck in getting it resolved.
I'm going to link this up to the electrical forum where it's a little better suited....I think you'll get more answers up there too... good luck and let us know!!!

Thought this was a symptom of either a dirty door switch ( the WD-40 repair ) or the GEM starting to take a powder, due to a water leak around the windshield.
I think it is the Door switch one, but I cannot be 100% sure of that.
The contracts are thinking that you are opening and closing the door.
See what the dealer comes up with. Look for a sloppy WD-40 job ( if they are one of those types of dealerships ) when you get it back, and thye say no problem found, and it stops doing it.
Good luck, hope you get it back quick.

Well, as I expected, the dealership couldn't find the problem, the service writhe acted like I didn't nkow what was going on.
As luck would have it, I went outside last night and the dome light was on, then it went off, 30 seconds later it came on again. I drove the truck back to the dealer and parked it right in front of the door and left the keys with a note telling them I wanted it fixed this time.
I told them to keep it until the problem duplicated itself for them, we'll see if it gets fixed this time.
