starter stays on

when I turn the key on the starter automatically kicks on, and won't shut off until i actually turn the key off all the way.
also, my selenoid is also sending a negative charge to my starter
(the small plug). could this be why and how do I fix it.

It's your starter solenoid switch located on the left firewall (as you look at the engine) It'll have a bigass black and red wire going to it. My '88 had the same problem and would even crank after key removed. It costs about 14 bux at Autozone and takes all of 10 minutes to replace. Best way to go about this is to take one set of wires off at a time and install them on the new solenoid as you go. That way there are no surprises.
