thermometer

For some reason, my factory thermometer is reading about 20 to 30 degrees warmer than it is outside. It starts close to 30 off, and then decreases to about 20 off, the longer you drive. Is there any way to reset this thing? Or do I need to take it in? Thanks, James

I see you are in Germany. If you look in the owners manual you will see that there are zones across the US for setting the Compass and the Thermometer. You might just need to reset it for the correct zone, but I didn't see one for Europe. Hopefully your manual has a setting for your area.
Do both F and C read incorrectly?

Yeah, there is a chart for the compass. It has different settings for different areas due to magnetic variation. I reset it to the best I can figure, but that should only effect the compass, not the thermometer I would think. Both F and C are incorrect. They are accurate with each other, meaning if I was to convert what ever it showed in F, to C, the truck waould display the accurate conversion. But it would still be 20 degrees off of the outside temp. If that makes any sense. Any suggestions?

I don't have an answer, but I do have the same problem with my thermometer. If it ever warms up above freezing, I thought I might try to locate the sensor and try cleaning it...maybe it's covered with crud???

Any ideas where the sensor is located?

Thanks,
Mike

The sensor is located in front of the radiator under the cross member / radiator support. Sometimes the thermometer will read "high" after the truck has been sitting for a while when the engine is warm. It's simply reading the warmth of the engine. Driving the truck will force ambient temperature air past the sensor changing the reading.

I have driven my truck for hours in 30 degree weather only to have the thermometer read 65 the whole time. It only recently started doing this. Maybe 2 or three months ago.
