No start on remote starter install
I have a 2003 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer with keyless entry. I installed the 2W7Z-19G364-AA Ford remote starter and security system along with the 1L2Z-19G365-AB PATS interface kit. Everything is working, including detecting a tach signal. When I try to program the remote starter, I get the one horn chirp, the instrument panel comes alive then I get 2 chirps and then the instrument panel goes off. Also, I don't know if I did it, but my cruise on button doesn't work, the off does and the set button will illuminate the cruise but it will not set a cruise speed. Any help would be greatly appreciated, since my ford dealer doesn't deal with their remote starter systems?!
I am using a cd from Ford. The cd was updated Dec. 9. I printed the manual out, and the ford part number of the manual is 2W7Z-16A901-AA. I tried the service/valet mode and it was not in service mode. Great news, I just talked to the 1-800-ford-key support guy, and he told me to check key in sense polarity. Sure enough, I had to change the option bank setting. Working great! Thanks for all your input!
Lazyblazer,
Just wondering where you purchased your Ford remote start system, and how much it cost you..
I called my Ford dealer was told "you can have it installed here, but we don't sell it direct" blah blah blah
I have installed plenty of stereos, amps, keyless entry, and alarms, so I think I can handle this..
Were the instructions included, or do you have a set of service manual cds? Were you happy with the install?
email me if you wouldn't mind forwarding me the instructions..

Lazyblazer - I just installed the same system on my 2002 Supercrew and I have dome light question for you.
According to the owner's manual, the dome light circuit should be turned on when I use the new keyless entry (illuminated entry). I'm not getting the light on.
On your install do you get illuminated entry with the keyless unlock?
On my install, the instructions on the CD had me wire both A-20 (green/violet) and A-3 (black/white) together into the domelight circuit. A-20 is the door ajar input and A-3 is supposed to be the dome light output.
Forrestc - I also just purchased my 'silver' Ford / code-alarm system in December. The best prices were either on E-bay or Ford Genuine accessory. I found it cheaper on EBay from a dealer in Canada (and fast service too). I got the Silver remote start / keyless entry + PATS bypass module for ~$185.
My system included the instructions on a CD. You can also get the instructions faxed to you by using the 1-800-Ford-Key fax back system.
As a note - both Lazyblazer and I installed the new powercode versions of this system, and not the old bronze, silver, gold versions. The starting prefix of the powercode systems is 2W7Z vs a 1xxx number for the older systems. I would encourage you to try to get the newer powercode system.

Forest, email me and I will email you the wiring code and locations for your truck. It is very easy to do, but I am biased against Fords systems. You can get a much better system for half the cost. Ford buys them from an aftermarket supplier, then puts their name and part number on them. Go with DEI, Crimestopper or simmilar quality brand. I install Crimestopper, and have installed MANY on newer Fords, including my own. I have yet to have a problem with one. Also the module to use for the Pats bypass is called a PKF. This module does not use a spare key. (When using a spare key in the module, you will have a problem starting the truck in extreme cold) Intersting test for you... Put your key in the freezer, after 4-6 hours, grab it and run out to your truck (trying not to warm up the key with your hand), and try to start your truck. Anyway, sorry about the rambling, email me if you need the info.

Remote Starter (cold key)
I noticed this "cold key" problem with the remote start this morning, (it was -5 degrees (F) in Boston). If you go out to your Truck (yes, I know this defeats the purpose of the auto starter) and put your "warm" key in the ignition (don't turn it) and then hit the auto start buttons, it will start and you can pull your key out and go back in the house while your truck warms up.
Hopefully it will "warm" up to 10 degrees and I can use the remote start as intented.

I'm out of town until Friday. I've you haven't gotten a copy of the instructions by then, I'd be happy to make you a copy of my install CD.
Post another message on this same thread or email me on Friday the 16th.

Sorry I didn't read the board over the weekend. This evening I will see how small I can compress the pdf file down. The instructions include many different models, so it might be too big to email.
If I can get it down to 10MB or less, I'll email it. If not, I may need to burn you a copy of the CD.
