Did you happen to run the coax anywhere near the power cable? You need to seperate the power and coax if they are near each other very much. Other power sources could effect the antennae wire as well like if you have a power wire running to an amp or something similar. Just a thought...

it sound slike a ground problem to me....here is a idea..

After you have verified that the antenna is properly grounded to the chassis or frame (not to the battery), the next step is to include an additional ground from the chassis of the radio to a good metal ground within the vehicle. (Note: This is not the power ground but a separate chassis ground). To do this, loosen a screw from the side or back of the radio, connect a wire to this point and re-tighten the screw. Attach the other end of the wire to a known good ground. If a power amplifier is used, it also should have a separate chassis ground wire as described above, installed. Remember to keep both the radio and the amplifier ground wires as short as possible.

If this doesnt work it might be a bad coax cable....let me know and goosd luck!!

I get static on mine like crazy, I hear the wipers, the windows, the power seat, and the engine. I thought it was just normal to have static.

Ford Fuel Pumps are notorious for spewing hash in the HF section of the radio bank (0 - 30 mhz). Ford even sells a filter that can be installed across the terminals of the fuel pump to reduce the hash.
