Hello Folks, still new here as I am sure you can tell. But I have been having this problem and thought i would give this forum a shout to see if I could get some help..

I have an 1994 F-150, 2wd, ext cab EB edition..
the problem I am having is intermittent...and effects both the horn and cruise control. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. i know it is not a fuse, fuses don't fix themselves..
Where would one look for anything common that would efect the horn and the cruise...

Defective clockspring.

The cruise control and horn are both connected to the clockspring behind the airbad/steering wheel.

 

Thanks for the answer, now what is the clockspring and can I get to it myself???
And ya know, I have had my airbag light flashing for the past 50K miles as well, but thats not as annoying as not having a horn or cruise..

Is this something I can do myself??? And if so, how do I get to it.??

I recently had to replace the connector on the wiring harness that connected to my multi-function switch. My airbag light blinked most of the time and turn signals worked when they wanted to. I had a habit of lowering my steering wheel all the way down when i drove and it seems there is not enough play in the harness. My mechanic told me he sees this all the time on fords and to not lower my steering column all the way down. this could possibly be your problem. hope this helps. if it is this connector,dont let the dealership tell you the harness is defective. they just want to install a complete new harness. You can buy a new connector for about 30 bucks. better than 1600 for the wiring harness.

 

If your airbag light is flashing, and your horn and cruise is affected, then for sure the clockspring is in need of replacement. Remove the airbag on the steering wheel, remove the steering wheel, the clockspring is right behind the steering wheel on the column. You have to remove the ignition lock cylinder, the cover that goes around the column. Then you can remove the clockspring and replace it.

Sorry for being a tard, but have not done much maint on this type of stuff and don't want the bag going off in my face for not doing something I should have..
