Question Anyone replace the License Plate light???

Yep...the drivers side plate light is out. It's been too cold/snow to actually go out and get under the truck...just wondering if anyone has replaced theirs before. How easy it is and whatnot. Any help is appreciated. I'm sure I am making this a bigger deal than it actually is. Its a 1998 F150.

Mike

Which light are you talking about?

There's only one license plate late, and that's in the back, and doesn't require crawling under the truck as far as I can tell...

On my F150, I have two license plate lights....a left and a right to fully illuminate the plate.

Total shot in the dark here as I'm not 100% sure but, does it detail it in the manual anywhere?

Don't try to pop off the lens. It will break. Been there done that. Just reach under the bumper and twist the light socket assembly to unlock it, and then pull it out. Replacement is opposite.
Lucky I know which license plate has lights for it, huh.

Yankee....thanks for that very simple replacement info. Like I said...when the temp goes up...I'll check it out. I'll just swing over to NAPA and get a bulb. I HOPE it is just the bulb and not wiring, as we had cold weather this past week...in the -teens.

Thanks again.

One of my number plate lamps was out recently. When I gave the whole lamp a twist, it came back on.
The lamp is earthed through the bumper and was making a bad connection.
Give the offending lamp a wiggle from the outside, it might come back on if you are lucky.

Ah, you are correct, I never really took time to look at that closely before

The steering wheel is on the left, same as yours although we do drive on the right. It's not a problem as I can see over most cars here.
The F150 is not officially imported by Ford into the UK(or Europe) so there is no dealer support. I imported mine personally from Texas. The new 2004 model isn't official here either.
You can get a RHD Ranger over here though but they are too small for me.
A few years ago, GM did convert S10 Blazers to sell here through the Vauxhall network along with the Camaro, Corvette and Caddy STS. These have now stopped.
Chrysler do a RHD Grand Cherokee and PT Cruiser which are both pretty popular in England.
