I have a 1998 F-150. Sometimes when I drive down the road The interior lights comes on and then goes off! You can hear clicking under the dash somewhere but I can't pin-point it due to unsafe practices of looking under the dash while driving 75 mph at night. And sometimes when I get in the truck especially at night and close the door the light will stay on for minutes at a time. It makes it hard to back up when this happens. Anybody have any ideas as to what the problem is? Is it a timer problem? And if it is, Does anyone know where it is? I don't have the manual or anything!

 

Does the door ajar light come on at the same time?
If so, you have a door latch pin switch sticking.
Do a search here, for the simple fix.

Mine did not click as yours is doing. So I am led to believe there is a relay or some wiring that is messed up under your dash. Dont know where to go from there though...

 

i have a mazda B4000 but it's having exactly the same problem you are...only it's gotten worse in the past year or so. not only does the light come on intermittently while driving, but so does the door ajar light and a warning sound. there is some clicking coming from under the dash which leads me to believe there is a relay problem. the other thing is that i have had to take out the fuse for the dome light because it would stay on for 20 or 30 minutes after all was locked up. i did buy the door switch, but getting to it is practically impossible. any suggestions?

looks like i've posted a redundant issue. it's GREAT to read that so many have had the same problem I have with the dome light, door ajar idiot light and warning sound coming at me all the time. nice that many are opposed to taking the car in for the problem because of the $$$. i'm not alone...DANG that's a good feeling.

i'll be trying the WD-40 tonight! can't wait!
