Remote Panic Button disables truck?
This weekend I accidently hit the panic button on my remote. I deactivated the panic by hitting the button again. All normal, right? Wrong. When I went to start the truck it would not turn over. I think the alarm is engaged somehow preventing the truck from turning over and starting. The alarm is a ford alarm that is somehow tied into the remote keyless entry system. Anyone have ideas?
I am currently starting the truck by bypassing the selenoid(sp).

You may have to reset the alarm.
If you can locate the alarm module- unplug the harness connector for 5 min, then plug it back in.
Also try hitting the unlock button on the remote before cranking.

Thanks. I will try unplugging the alarm.
I have tried pressing unlock / lock / etc with the remote to no avail. That used to fix the problem in the past when I would have to disconnect the battery. But its not working this time.
Any idea how the 3 wire light/valet switch works? Where could I get a replacement?

I removed the alarm last night and still have the problem. The remote still works the locks and panic button. For some reason 12 volts is not getting to the selenoid to engage it....
The same thing happened to me this weekend. The panic alarm went off at the car wash, while the workers were cleaning inside. After that the truck would not start at all. I tried the lock/unlock, disconnecting the battery, everything! Finally had to tow the truck to the dealer.
They replaced the starter solenoid, and everythings fine now.
I don't know what the connection is between the alarm and the starter, but it's an odd coincidence that our circumstances are similar.

I checked the voltage from the ignition and it only mesures about 4-5 volts which tells me something is holding back the voltage. I would expect to see something close to 12 volts for the solenoid to engage and crank the starter.
