Door Locks

I have now narrowed it down that I need new door actuators, so I picked one up at the Ford Dealership (Drivers Side Actuator). Now I'm looking inside my door panel and I don't see how to get the old actuator out of there. Is there anyone that has a step by step tutorial about how to do this. Or know of a book that I can kpurchase that gives a very siplme understanding of what to do about replacing them. Thanks in advance, Messiah

Thumbs up Actuator access

I just completed the installation of the actuator in the drivers door on my 1999 F150 Extended Cab pick-up. The complete process took me about an hour. You must remove both electrial connections, the interior door handle cable and the three guide rods; ext. door handle, ext. key lock as well as the int. lock button. This comes a little easier if you remove the three screws in the door frame so as to allow the assembly to swing loose. Once all of the connections are released the assembly will rotate clockwise around the window guide.
This was a lot simpler to type out than it was to physically do. If you are not 100% mechanically inclined , I would consider having a Ford mechanic do the work.
Good Luck
