Post Is your overhead console thermometer wildly inaccurate?

Details on replacing your ambient air temp sensor...

Because my temperature sensor started reading 25 degrees BELOW actual!!!, I had to replace the ambient air temperature sensor, which sends signal to your overhead console display.

I'll detail this with pictures here, with part number, in case anyone else on the net had the same annoying problem I've had. What's even more annoying, is the lack of information I've pulled up despite multiple hours of searches and pulling my hair out trying to fix this.

The Ford part # you need for late model F-150's etc.(mine is a 2001 with overhead console) is F3VY-12A647-A

Nice job... I always wondered how that thing worked. I saw it one morning last winter and it said "Ice" on the display. What causes it to do that??

Our 02 F250 has one of those, the temps were never as off as yours, but the readinds were never accurate either.

Mine doesnt even have a console on it though.

Post It can flash ICE upon startup, and...

It flashes ICE when it gets down below 38 degrees. It does this for a couple of minutes then stops. It's sort of a warning incorporated into the module that ice can potentially form on bridges, etc. at temps not far below this.
