DOOR KEY vs IGNITION KEY

Would someone please advise me how to obtain or acquire a simple key to just unlock my door and nothing else. I inquired about having an additional key made only to learn it would be $135! I just want one of those simple emergency type keys to unlock my door in the event that I locked my one and only key inside!!

Cool

Try getting a blank cut at your local hardware store.

If they don't have the proper blank, there are always a bunch on eBay for $15-$20...

If you just want a key to unlock a door, you can simply run by your local hardware store and have them cut one for you. Obviously, it won't be able to start the truck (because it doesn't have the PATS chip) but, as far as unlocking the doors, no problem.

Lowes carries the Blanks and can cut a key, they may try to refuse, but just tell them its a wallet key to get back in the truck not for the ignition. Also be sure and hide a Bed cover key in the truck cab!

Wow! Thank you for the advice and tips! I have already purchased two keys with the PATS chip and know how to program them myself. It's amazing that these keys cost me $20 for the two and the jerk Ford salesman wanted $135 for one!!!
I really appreciate this Ford F150 Forum and have learned a lot for those of us that want to save money and D-I-Y. THANKS!!!
PS--- And, I really really love my F150 4x4!

I got mine at ACE Hardware. Blank number H75.

My F-150 is a '99.
