Unhappy Window Fuse keeps Blowing HELP!!!!

I am fed up with this problem and need any help I can get. I have a 1999 Ford
F-150 XLT Supercab and the main fuse for the power windows keeps blowing. It is a 30A fuse located in the fuse box under the hood. I have replaced both motors in the doors, replaced the one touch down relay, lubricated the window track, and looked at as much wiring as I could to check for corrosion etc. And it STILL keeps blowing. I am positive that there are no problems with the passenger side window. But as soon as I touch the button for the drivers side window... nothing. On a couple occassions, after I replaced the fuse, it has worked for a little while (10-15minutes), but then it would blow again. I REALLY don't have the money to take it to the dealer (especially since they probably wouldn't fix it right anyhow), and I am by NO MEANS mechanically/electrically inclined. If anyone has any ideas PLEASE let me know what I can do!

i would say check the wires good. for any rubbing. when putting door back on, there is no screw into harness?? sorry had to ask. poss a short in the boot where the wires go to body. try to move boot a little see if short goes away. or door open or closed does it blow fuse faster. acc delay relay. or fuse block. i would say most common. shorted wire in door or boot area. or fuse box. maybe even gem. sometimes windshield will leak a little water ontop of gem and fuse box. but most of time other things go funny first. not something with a 30 amp fuse. make sure it will not blow from rh door. start to disconnect things to pinpoint.
good luck.

Ok... so far I have replaced both window motors, the one touch down relay, about a gazillion fuses, checked wiring for scuffs etc. and lubricated the window tract/gears etc. very well. I got it to work for about 20 minutes this past weekend, then turned off the truck and walked away. About 20 min later I got back in the truck and pressed the button, and it went down about 1/8 inch and the fuse blew. I checked the switch as best as I new how to with an ohmeter. It SEEMED fine (although I dont really know what I am looking for or what readings it should be giving). The strange thing was that even when the switch was unplugged and NO buttons were depressed, there was constant continuity through it. Then when you depressed the button down the continuity broke. Typically, a switch has no electric current UNTIL you depress the switch to complete the circuit. I don't know what Ford was thinking when they got monkeys to design their electrical systems. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

macabra11,

Does the fuse blow when the window is going up or down or both? Do both windows blow the fuse or just the driver side? I suspect either the switch or the wires from the switch to the motor. But most likely it is the Switch.

Regards

The fuse I believe has blown while going up, but that was probably when the problem first arose. And it is ONLY the driver's side taht makes it blow. I have had no porblems with the passenger side blowing fuses....yet ! I think it might be the switch too, thanks for the input!

The way the switch is set up is to provide ground as well as power to both terminals of the motor. Both terminalis of the motor are grounded when the switch is in the neutral position. Depending on which way you press the switch it breaks the ground on one side while providing power to that side. If one of those wires is shorted to ground it will blow the fuse when the switch is pressed providing power to it. Or if the switch is shorted it will blow when pressed. Unplug the switch and probe the red w/yellow stripe wire for continuity to ground. It should not have any. Also probe the orange w/white stripe wire. Neither of these wires should be shorted to ground. If they are they will blow the fuse when power is applied. The next thing to check is the switch.
