G.E.M/C.T.M module problems
I have a 98 f-150 and it is giveing me quit a fit. I recentally lost the function of the wipers, door/key chime door ajar, an all interior lights. so i began to trace the wires and see where the problem alay and it all seems to trace back to the gem/ctm module. so i was to the point of breaking and about to drive the POS to the for dealership, but before something told me to try and reset it bye removing the battery, so i did and to my relife everything was back to normal or at least i thought, it was working and it worked a hole 2 days then back to being broke, whats the deal is it a bad mod or am i missing power some where, if any oe knows please help i would like to avoid a trip the the ford place. and yes i check every fuse twice and all the relays, and i have digrams for the entire system. any thing would help
Module Problems
Is your battery cables making a good connection? Try cleaning the posts if not and check to see if cables are on tight. If it worked after you took them off and put them back on,maybe it is not getting a good connection, just enought to start the vehicle.
Look above the GEM to see if you have a leak.
Electrical gremlins with the GEM seem to poaint towards a leak that soaks the GEM over time, and it finally gives up.
This is what I have read with a few posts. If you search on teh term GEM*
Here is one from teh search

Good luck going through all of them.
