Computer recall???

Has anyone had their truck recalled for a "failure to start below freezing" or something like that? I got a recall notice, but just figured I'd get it in when I had time, no big rush. Well, my truck was on the shop today getting aligned, and the bed aligned, and they wanted to do the fix for the computer problem, but weren't sure if it would affect my chip. I can't see that it would, but just thought I'd see if anyone else has had this done. I've never seen it mentioned...

I'll post a link to this over in the computer chips forum...

thanks...

It may effect your chip if they have an updated program in it, also know as reflashing. Ask Mike about it in the Superchips forums.

The TSB from 29-OCT-01 article number 01-21-5 has a 5.4L engine with the PCV system icing ( this number only applies to trucks built through 01-NOV-01 ).

This is the only freezing TSB that I could find, and had to do with the throttle sticking after steady state driving in extreme cold ambient temps.

This only required a PCV retro kit.

The only other PCM related that I can find right now is with the high temp IAT readings, and how the truck retards timing. There was a re-flash for this as well.

Sorry I don't have anything for the 2003 M.Y. F-150 to let you know what the reflash was on that one.

I had a 97 4.2 that had the throttle sticking after steady state driving in extreme cold ambient temps. It happen as I was driving to work and getting off the turnpike. I tell you what that really SUCKED, almost went off the side of the road...

I received the same recall notice on my '03. It's for the 4.6 engine only & is for failure to start in sub-zero temps. It involves re-flashing the PCM with updated software. You would definatly want to remove your super chip before you had this done. Since your truck is chipped you may not even need to have this done. According to the letter you have until March of 2004 to have this done regardless of mileage. BTW, this is a recall not a TSB.
