No fun being on Gilligan's Island in a dead truck.

Looks like you may need a new battery. I knew I'd read a similar post before, and here it is.

just had similar problem myself on my '98. Tried to start - pop -then nothing. Relays clicking, no gauge movement when key in run. 13.7 volts at battery and at chassis.

Swapped relays around where possible. After swapping a couple of them under the hood I got my gauges back. At that point (couple days later) the voltage was down to 9 so put in new one and it now starts fine.

The bad news. Now my ABS, airbag and check engine lights are on. No cruise control and missed badly. And I'm not sure power accessories are shutting off when key goes to start position. My XM radio no longer shuts of like it used to when starting. Trying to get truck to shop today to get checked.

Be careful if you swap the relays around. Do it with the battery disconnected. I did it live and that may be what caused my problem - I think I may have affected the brain.

Hope that helps.

Roy,

Try the main ground from the Battery. If it is corroded/lose it will cause the clicking. It is the GEM module and the grounds have to be perfect. Then pull the kick panel on the driver side and check the ground wires. They have green bolts.

Glad to hear it worked out OK.

Bet it looked like it was going to cost you more than a new Motorcraft, huh?
