50% successful

Well, I was about 50% successful. The switch modification worked perfectly. But the wiring was another matter. The wiring on the Sable versus the F150 was completely different. I didn't expect it to be exact of course, but this was completely different. I was missing one wire, and the rest of them were different colors. I also tested them with my multimeter, and the wires that were 12V versus 0V were different as well. What a headache. Guess I will have to figure this one out.

One more thing, I noticed that my fogs only work when the key is in the ON position. When you turn off the ignition the fogs turn off but the headlights work as normal. Is the F150 like this?

No, the fogs work with the ignition off too. Wish I could help you, I know next to nothing about electrical work. Good luck!

I got mine to work fine, but I had a question about the electrical part...just to help my understanding. What was the purpose of splicing #12 and #2?

Any help would be greatly enhance my limited knowledge of electrical work.

Thanks.

"Jumping" (whidh is what we are doing) the #2 and #12 wires allows the fogs to come on in the parking light setting. Even though after filing down the inside of the switch you can mechanically pull the **** out to turn on the fog lights..... you will notice the fog lights don't come on. Until you jump the #12 and #2 wire.

Basically, you are allowing an electrical connection of the fog light curcuit to occur when the switch is in the parking light setting. The switch and wiring obviuosly (and stupidly by Ford) were not designed to allow for that connection.

But we fooled them, didn't we!!

So the foglight circuit has no electrical power until spliced ("jumped") to the parking light circuit?? This is why you cannot turn the fog lights on by themselves?

Am I understanding this correctly?

Ahh.....no. It's not really jumping the fog light and parking light circuit power.

http://www.svtlightnings.com/svt/how...s/foglamps.htm

If you go to the above instructions of the "How To" web page for this mod, scroll all the way to the end, they have a diagram outlining the electrical connections that are made between the 10 wires with the switch. I'd have to go look at it again to see EXACTLY what the jumper does, but basically it allows the switch which is obviosuly desinged to NOT power the fogs from the parking light setting, to do exactly that. I'ts more of a logical connection than a power connection.

Ya, I didn't exactly "get" that diagram...kind of like reading Chinese to me. But I get the gist of what you are saying. I know that the steps that were performed got me to where I wanted to be...foglights working w/ just the parking lights...so I guess I won't bang my head on the wall trying to figure out "why" the connections did what they did. Bottom line: it worked, nothing shorted out, I'm happy!

Thanks.
