I tried to talk you into using that switch before you installed yours! And, sorry, unless you can get really creative, I don't think that switch will fit the hole that needed to be cut for the switch that came with the CR kit. I obviously have the one switch... and I've seen the other. Sorry man...

One good thing, you might be able to find that plastic piece up there where you mounted your switch fairly cheap if you do want to change.

HAHAHA! Oh, but it's so much fun! Especially because you had all of the resources that you could possibly need right here as I'd done it a few months previous. LOL!

Lighted switch

Hey Rob,

Well I finally got the switch from fordpartscheap and it is the lighted one. Only trouble is I need the harness to go with it which I will probly pick up at the local junk yard so it looks stock not to mention the pins are really small but could possibly be soldered. Hopefully RockPick reads this and could tell me what pins goto what. It has 6 on it with 4 on one side and 2 on the other. It was 11.91 with 8.00 S/H which is a bit much for such a small item but I live on the west coast and fordpartscheap is out of florida.
Hopefully this helps anyone interested......

Oh! by the way PN# F8RZ-14529-AB

Excellent! That is a very good price. I'm going to pick up one of those myself.

I had a drawing of that switch but I can't find it anywhere. I'm sure RP will be along shortly to help you out.

Ask and you shall recieve....

Obviously, the handwriting in red is the FORD CONTOUR harness (I believe it was a 1995 or 1996 model) out of the passenger door (which is where I swipped my switch).

Hope that helps...

Very helpful! BUTT....

Hey RP thanks a million for the diagram but I am in a bit of trouble. I ordered my switch from a 98 contour so the pin out is different. I only have 6 pins not seven and the numbers are not the same. I have 1-4 across the top and 6-7 below (#5 doesn't exist on my switch). If you have any advice please let me know. I may just have to go to the junk yard and get a 95-96 switch w/harness and eat the $ for the 98. Thanks again....

BUTT? LOL! Someone tell me... did he call me a butt? LOL!

Maybe the Contour was newer than 96... I'm honestly not sure. I know my pedals switch harness is identical to the contour harness (with the exception of wire colors).

Also, are you sure you have illumination? I remember someone else getting a 6 pin and it not lighting up. Just checking.

If I were you, I'd rob one out of a door of another Contour and ****** the wiring harness too. *shrugs* I'm not sure what to tell you outside of that. I can attest that the 1995 Contour light switches lit up... my wife owned one.

OOPS! Wrong Switch!!!

Ok here's the deal. I went to the junkyard and pulled a switch out of a 95 contour. This switch has 7 pins and is exactly like the diagram above. I purchased a 98 and somehow they changed the switch around. It is illuminated and would fit in the same 95 pigtail harness but I don't have a schematic to figure out the wires so I paid $15 w/harness and got the 95 switch. So anyone out there looking to change out their power slider switch to the contour switch make sure you get a 95-96 and keep it simple...

Couple of questions for RP -- Where did you tap into illumination power? Did you take all grounds and tie them together? Lastely did you use the in line mini fuse tap to get power to the window? Or did you create a seperate power feed?? Thanks.....

Since I installed the PS switch immediately next to the pedals switch, I tapped illumination power and ground off of the illumination power for the pedals using splice connectors. The grounds were all done the same way... using the pedals ground and such. I used an inline mini-fuse for protection for the slider motor... I didn't tap the fuse block... I tapped power for the slider off of circuit #400 which is located down behind the kick panel on the drivers side. This is the circuit that controls all the windows and gives you the delayed power (shut engine off, windows still work). Thus, my rear slider will still work after driving with the engine off (as long as a door hasn't been opened).

The only thing that I thought could go wrong with this set up was if I used the pedals and window at the same time... and since I NEVER move my pedals (neat feature, not useful for me though), the only time they both have current running through them is when I have my lights on... and even then, it's a mediscule amount of power.

Hope that helps.... feel free to ask any other questions...

What year(s) was this an option?

What year(s) was this an option? I want to get that trim/dash piece with the switch holes already in it. Since my truck is a 1998, I will put the fog light switch and the slider switch in these locations. I converted my factory fogs to come on whenever I want without the headlights.. but I want this factory look!

Also, can anyone tell me what year(s) this contour switch was from?

And does anyone know of a similar looking factory ford fog light switch that will fit in this dash/trim piece?

Thanks!!!
