towing wiring harness

Is there an aftermarket wiring harness that I can EASILY attach to my '88 to hook up my sailboat trailer?? Something maybe that I can quick clamp to the existing wires for towing capability??
Thanks in advance

I am unsure on an '88 F150, but I know that you can get a "T" pigtail for a '95 model that connects to existing connectors and the pigtail to the trailer. Shouldn't be much difference. Usually, they can be found at many auto parts stores like Autozone, Pep Boys, Carquest, etc.

Good Luck in your search!!

The Hoppy / Lite Mate web site lists the T connector as p/n: 40125.

F-150 for years 87 to 96.

You should be able to find this at any auto parts store or Walmart.

Hi Ken

Did you look underneath rear..there maybe a factory wiring harness already there? Look carefully. Look for a bunch of wires tucked up under rear end..look for gray? plug, maybe two, dangling from end of that wiring mass which also goes to rear lights etc.

If so..would require another harness that plugs into it. Ford may still make that harness? Maybe auto store has one? If not.....

Use info. already given here.

Good luck...OT

The factory tow wiring consisted of wiring harness that connected to two gray plugs toward left on rear frame member. One end had the two connectors and the other was 7 bare wires and you had to put on your own 7-pin connector. I have an '89 and looked at factory wiring dia. The factory number for the harness is 13A576 part of towing package. 14A348 is the brake controller wiring harness located on left side of dash.
