speedometer

i have a 2000 150 4x4 and speedo has been acting up it will jump around and bounce a few times when accelerating well i took it to the dealer and they put in a new cluster and it work fine for a couple of day then it started to do the same thing so i took it back they replaced a sensor or something im not for sure and that didnt work then they said they dont have clue whats wrong with it they said it might be my power wires from my amp that is making it not work, so any ways no my speedo dont work at all and the odometer isnt working either if i really get down hard on the gas it will jump 1 or 2 and thats it so any help with a fix for this will be appretiated thanks

Well the easiest way I can see to try to start to figure it out, is to pull the fuse feeding power to the Amp.

If you kill off that, then it would give you an answer right away.

Where the Amp power is taken from the battery, pull the fuse itself, not just turning it off.

Next step if that doesn;t work is to check the analog gauges against the digital read out of the Odometer.

See if the Analog and Digital do the same thing.

If you pull the fuse on the Amp, and it does the same thing, sounds like the dealer needs to figure out what it is, don't know don't cut it.

When they replaced the cluster, did you get a new set of keys ?

If not, they just replaced the gauges themselves, and not the module behind the gauges, which may or may not have somethign going on.

Just a few thoughts to try to start it off.

Good luck, let us know what happens

Steve

Bigger Tires shouldn't make it do that.

At least as far as I know.

It would make it read wrong.
