Wiring Harness Needed?

Just purchased a set of white lights for my 150, don't seem to be getting as much visibility as I had with the stock lights? Came across a post which mentioned a heavy duty wiring harness, is this required to get the results the white lights advertise or a "must" in order just to run with the white lights?

Some folks that post here have some pretty compelling evidence that says you don't need an HD harness. A few folks with fried stock harnesses might beg to differ. If the stock harness can't handle the load, it shows up as both heat and diminished output. I've always elected to go with the HD harness with anything more than 70/80 watt bulbs. I'm running 80/100's and I wouldn't even try it without the HD harness. Hope that helps.

TheKoerb,

Depends on what the wattage of the bulbs are if you need the HD harness.

If you have the SilverStar bulbs, then you don't need it, and they are brighter then stock or Flosser 80/100 W bulbs.
Know that one from doing the test against the white wall in the back of the garage.

Even if they are stock wattage bulbs, next thing to check is the color temp of the bulb, some bulbs are appearance mods only, and might not produce any additional lumens at the ground, but this is usually a problem with the blue bulbs not white. If you can provide the color temp ( number with a K after it ) and the wattage of the bulb that would go a long way in the decision if you need a HD harness, and if the bulbs you got are workign correctly.

Some additional info is in order to properly diagnose what is going on.
