Successfully Installed Factory Keyless Entry

I just got this truck about a month ago, and I checked it to see if it had keyless entry already. I did the remote program method to see if the doors would lock/unlock. That didn't work, so then I checked to see if it had the RAP module I read about on here, no such luck. I wanted keyless entry on my truck but for some reason I wanted factory. I don't know why but I just like factory stuff like that. I bought a universal Ford keyless entry kit for $75 off of ebay a few weeks ago. I installed it this week on my '97. It wasn't too bad, except trying to access the wires. I practically had the entire dash on the driver's side torn off, which wasn't so bad because I had to replace some instrument bulbs anyway. Removing the driver's seat and center console helped alot. The only problem I ran into was the wiring code book that came with the kit said that my power door lock system was a Type-B system, but it actually turned out to be a Type-A system. I found this out by comparing the wiring diagram from my Haynes manual, Ford Manual CD, and the schematics in the kit instructions. I called the 1-800 tech. support number that was with the kit to get some help and they verified the Type-A system. Connected the lock/unlock wires per the Type-A instructions and it worked. I thought I had tried it that way earlier before I called for help, but I guess not. There are different options you can set, such as automatically locking the doors when the truck starts. There's also the option of not allowing the truck to start if it was locked with the remote and then unlocked without the remote. I'm thinking about turning that feature off. It's not that bad, if it doesn't start you just hit the unlock button on the remote and then it'll start. It gets annoying though. Anyhow, I just wanted to share my experience for anyone interested in adding a factory kit.

Here's the part # of the kit. F7AZ-54220K51-AA SYSTEM 1
