bed lights

I want to put some lights in my truck bead under my tonneau. Where can I get the power from. Should I run a wire directly from the battery? If so how big a wire? I want to run it through a switch like a door button and put a toggle switch in between. Thanks for any help

Good question Kbuth:

I'm interested in doing the same thing. I purchased my white led lights and now I want to hook them up. I'll wait on a reply like you for the best way to wire them in.

I did the same thing, and my wire is still laying there. I can't decide where to hook it. I think I'm going to just put in a tiny switch somewhere because I don't want to have to run my interior lights in the truck to make them come on which was my other option.

what i did was

for power i took the ele brake wireing harness from the truck, it comes with the trailer stuff in the truck, this connects to a connector under the dash, the blue wire i connected to constant 12v, and then i cut the rest of the wires short, this will get u 12v constant to the trailer connector under the rear bumper.

on the back of the trailer connector i cut the blue wire and ran it to a relay, on the other side of the relay went a mercury switch i put on the tailgate so when the gate is open the switch tripps the lights..
