help!

I own a 97' f-150 4x4 and am also a volunteer firefighter. I have tried to install a used wig-wag system into my headlight system. The directions from Galls that I got was probably mainly for Crown Vic. police cars, but the dirs. were supposed to be universal because it had 5-6 different ways to hook it up depending on the way the headlights are ran. The wig-wag system, when turned on at the switch, will alternately flash the bright lights, no matter if the low beams are on or off. The guy I got the box from was very sure that it worked just fine when he took it out of his truck. When I turn the box on now my head lights go out, also no wig-wag. I wondered if anyone knew anything about these or if you had a copy of the headlight wiring diagram for my 97' f150, or where I could get one. I would appreciate any help.
Thanks,

i never hooked one up but im assuming that a wire will have to be run to each of the high beam wires behind the head lamps, if this is correct, there are three wires there, ground, lows, and high, to find high use a volt meter and probe the connector, one u will get ground, one will only show 12v when the lows are on, now turn on the high beams and u should get 12v on the third, connect one wig wag high beam wire here and do the same on the other light..

hope it helps
