Factory Ford Alarm Question

I've got an '02 F-150 SuperCrew and recently when I arm the factory alarm it's honking twice instead of the customary single honk. Any idea's why? I'm about to install a Clifford Alarm in a month or so but I'm wondering if this is something I should be concerned with (damaged wiring or something). Thanks for any help you can provide.

First: You do not have an alarm. No '02 F150's came with factory alarms.

Second, the double honk when you push the remote button a second time means one of the following: 1) headlights are on, 2) door is ajar

All that horn honk means is a confirmation of the doors being locked.

As far as it being an alarm. I think it is more than just a door opener because when it is "armed" and the light is flashing on the inside and you open a door it starts honking the horn and flashing the headlights.

In regards to your analysis, I've heard the same thing from a couple of friends of mine. The lights are off (set to auto) and the doors are all shut. One of my friends suggested it might be a faulty pin switch and I'm kinda leaning that way.

Hate to take it to the dealership for something so trivial

I would check to see if you have a hood pin installed maybe it has shorted out.

pw1981 is correct, no '02s were shipped with 'Factory' alarms. This may be a matter of semantics as it sounds like somebody installed either an aftermarket or Ford aftermarket/CodeAlarm system in your truck.

The double chirp is explained in your owner's manual and indicates one of your doors or your hood is ajar. If this is the case the headlamps will not flash when you press the keyfob LOCK button twice either. If it is a door ajar then your interior lamps would be staying on as well.

Lights still flash when I "arm" it. I've checked the door switches (sounds stupid) by waiting for the light to go off and opening each door one at a time and making sure it turns the light on. Haven't checked for a hood switch but I'll do that in the morning.

Thanks for the advice guys. It's really no big deal but it does sorta annoy me.

If you're talking about the headlamps flashing when you lock the vehicle and all doors are closed - this is normal and is part of the Remote Keyless Entry system, NOT a factory installed alarm. Granted, some of the aftermarket and Ford Aftermarket alarms tap into these same circuits.
