Help a blind idiot find the fuse panel!

Hi guys,

I am feeling like a total ignoramous here. I picked up a sweet 2001 F150 Lariat Supercab this past weekend. I've been "personalizing" it today. I was going to hardwire my radar detector into the fuse panel....but I can't seem to find it. Now I know what one looks like. I've wired stereos, CB's, and radar detectors for years. I've found the distribution panel under the hood, but no fuse panel anywhere. The owners manual says it's "Under the drivers side dash to the left of the steering column by the brake pedal". I see NOTHING that resembles a fuse panel. Is this some new top secret design? Any help appreciated!!

That's where it is... look on the left paneling for a rectangular cover that is the same color as your interior...

Underneath that cover will be a black cover that is covering the panel itself...

G'luck. I promise it's there.

It's a top-secret fused-for life setup... kind of like the bearings and steering components that are lubed for life. When one of your electrical components quits working, you replace the entire wiring harness on the vehicle. Less parts to go wrong.

No, I'm kidding... on the left side of the dash below the headlight switch, just below knee-height is a removable panel. It pops off and exposes the covered fuse box. Pop the cover off it and viola!

Just a thought though... instead of running the wires up the dash, under the a-pillar and across the headliner, pull the power from the overhead console... pop it off (one screw) and tap into the power for the lights or console. Much less wiring to run!! That's what I did.

Thanks guys. Duh!! I found it alright. Nice of them to put a nice little pull off panel right where you can see and access it easily instead of crawling all up under the dash like I did trying to find the thing. I will check out the overhead wiring scenario too. Thanks again.
