NEW Optima yellow top battery ...DEAD!

Hey guys,
A couple of weeks ago i asked about "Which Optima battery i should buy."
Well, i went ahead and bought a new yellow top. It worked great for 3 weeks. There was a noticable increase in starting power from my old red top batery to my new yellow top. So, i thought i was good to go......NOPE!

I went outside yesterday to start my truck and it was dead. At first i thought it was my ground wire because i wasn't even getting any power to my interrior light, headlights,or my brakes lights.

So i pulled out the trusty multimeter....and the NEW battery was showing 0.04 volts......Real nice HUH.

After that i installed my OLD battery (which is slow on start ups-thats the reason why i replaced it) and it started up.

I just went outside to make sure the truck started, and it did.
Whats going on here!

Any help would appreciated.......

I wouldn't jump to blaming the new battery just yet. I've seen brand new batteries killed by the simplest of things - like having a draw on the battery. (I've even seen the dome light left on right after an installation - killing the battery.) The first thing I'd look for as a draw on the system. Did you get a spark from the battery connections on your "charged" battery when you hooked it up? If so, it's a sure sign of something drawing on it. You may need to hook up a meter in line to see what kind of draw you've got. A small draw is normal for certain things like radio memory by the way.

By the way, I have also seen brand new batteries short out internally, but that one's pretty rare.
