Question Power Window/is This A Fair Deal

Hi
I am looking at a 1990 f150 lariat king Cab truck.
It has 104.00 thousand miles And is Clean and straight, the power windows do not work you can hear the windoe motors run but they do not move up or down.
the motor is a 5.0 and has a aod trans tilt cruise power locks.
the asking price is 3,200 I may be able to get it for a little less.
Is this a good price Any ideas on the window trouble.
Please help

GIL

the plastic gears inside the motor is worn out. You will need to replace each motor at about 130 a piece from a ford dealer. labor if you dont do it yourself would be a hour a side.

So from my shop, the estimate would be

LF win motor 130.00 labor 56.00
RF win motor 130.00 labor 56.00

total 372.00

that would be ford remanufactured motors with a lifetime guarantee.

Another option is the window motor rebuild kit. It comes with the plastic gears and the dampners. The kit costs $15 per side.

Plastic gears inside motor get stripped. Repair kits are about $15.00 each at Discount Auto Parts. Takes a couple hours to repair window motors. Beats dealer prices.

You should be able to get remanufactured window motors for both sides at any napa or advance auto parts. I had a 91 and I replaced both of them. You have to drill a couple of holes in the doors, but I can't remember if that is to release the rivets or to be able to get to the screws that hold it on. You have to fit it in a certain way, but you will be able to feel the gears fall into place. Anyway, if you have any questions just ask.

Oh, by the way you can get good remanufactured motors for around 80 bucks I think.
