Question Temp Gauge

I have another problem with my 1998 F-150.

My Temp gauge shoots to HOT after about 20 Seconds of running.

Any advise?

Have you just flushed your cooling system? If you did, run the truck without the cap on to let all the air out. Air in the system will really make the temp guage jump.

If nothing was done recently and it just shoots up to hot then you're screwed lol.

Could it also be a bad mixture? I have been told that it might.

You may want to consider just replacing the sender.
If the engine is cold and the temp shoots through the roof in 20 seconds, its most likely bad information reaching the gauge either from a fualty gauge, bad sender, or wiring. You cant put heat into a cold engine that fast even if there is no coolant.
