theft light blinks

theft light blinks

my theft light blinks repeatedly and then stops and makes a sequence qhere it blinks twice and stops and twice again and stops and so on, whats this

also for some reason the battery light stays on after i take the key out of the ignition

It would help if you told us the model and year of your truck. The Theft light blinking in that manner is telling you the Passive Anti Theft (PATS) transceiver is either disconnected or not working properly in which case your truck probably doesn't start either. This is the part that reads the chip in your key.

The battery light staying on - well that sounds like some gremlins in the system. Post more details.

my truck is a 2001 super crew with the 5.4l engine, some thing you should know all this started after a downpour last weekend so i believe is water related.

I haven't heard about this problem in a long time. If it occurred as advertised the windsheild gasket is leaking at the lower left corner. This allows water to infiltrate the fusebox and wiring harness. This could all be related to someting else, but if you are under warranty get to the dealer ASAP. More in the attached link.

thanks for all the help one thing i should tell you is that i let the truck in the sun the hole morning and tried it out and everithing was back to normal, go figure ragardless im going to a glass shop and reseal the windshield just as a precaution and ill probably have some one take a look at the fuse b ox and other electronics that could have been affected.
