Water Problems

I just took my 97 Lariat to the dealer for a few problems I was having. The airbag light came on, the keyless door entry quit working and the interior light stopped coming on. Later that afternoon, the service center called and told me that I had a water leak under the windsheild. Second time for that. After he got in to the electrical problems, he told me that water had got under the dash (from the windsheild and RUSTED most of the electronics. Everything electrical has to be replaced. From the headlight switch to the keyless entry. THANK GOD it is still under warranty. He said it would have cost me around $4000 to replace everything with labor. Today is the third day they have been working on it and still he said they have a good three days left. To make matters worse, the warranty does not cover rental car fees. Thank God for insurance. If you have a continous electrical problem, get the service center to check out under the windsheld for leaks. Too bad I cant post photos here, I would show all the damage.

When you get your truck back you might want to go to a do-it-yourself car wash and hose the heck out of the windshield area. Hopefully they will have it fixed right this time.

Did the service dept. mention "Why" your windshield leaks?? You said this has happened before!!! Is the gasket/seal around the windshield not put on right?? Is this the same service dept that fixed it the first time?? and what are they doing to make sure it doesn't happen again?? I hope they do a better job this time!! Good luck.

Hitmanhite,

I have a website and am currently revamping an area to post problems/fixes for the trucks. If you'd like, email me your pictures, at my site, and Ill add them with a description of what happened. Also, my truck had a paint defect when I got it. The dealership kept it for a week buffing the paint, they paid for my rental car. Your dealership should to, get on them about it, if they won't budge mumble something about returning the truck for a refund...that should do it.
