airbag code 14
airbag code 14
Since my 2000 F150 was new the passenger air bag was switched off. I turned it on recenlty and now I'm getting a airbag fault code 14. Will not go away, even if I switch the passenger airbag back off. I read that this code is a "Primary Crash Sensor - Shorted to Ground", can anyone explain what exactly this means? Also, I'm assuming the problem is most likely in the passenger airbag, is the entire system now disabled?
Thanks.
Chris
Thanks.

Ok, the dealer is telling me that on a 2000 the light blinks don't mean anything. Since it's pulsing a sequence (1 pause 4 pause) I find that hard to believe. The dealer also said that if the light remains illuminated the system might still work. I realize the obvious point is there is a problem with the system. Just seems odd that the problem only showed up when the passenger air bag was enabled.
lamp
the blinking lamp DOES indicate a problem. Also when blinking the airbags wont deploy in an accident. warranty is 5 -50 on restraints. I would have it scanned to get the code. the lamp is usually relieable when diagnosing evrn though i am not seeing code 14. sounds like there maybe a problem with the pad switch.
Thanks Danny. If I no doubt you're correct. The air bag light flashes the code 14 numerous times then just stays lit.
I'm aware of the warranty and unfortunaetly the truck has 59,000 miles. Do you happen to know if it will deploy when lit solid.
Again, I realize it needs to be fixed just trying to figure out when I'll have it done.
I watched it carefully today:
1 blink - pause - 4 blinks. It does this 6 times before just styaing lit.
Thanks,
Chris
