Q for the Superchips people

My friend has a Superchips Flip Chip that he had on his 2000 or 2001 Lightning (can never remember the year). He no longer has the "L" but did keep the chip. My question is, with a reburn, will this chip work in my 1997?

You can get it reburned for about $75. Make sure that you find a good tuner and not a fly by night guy. You know the type that is a hot rod shop/bait shop

Hi Dan97,

Yes, it can be reprogrammed for your 1997 F-150 & we can take care of that for you, we have highly specialized programs for these F-150's that only we have, and will make more power & improve performance more for your F-150 as we've specialized in this platform for many years. We've worked with Superchips to develop specific features in our F-150 programs to get you the absolute best safe & sustainable performance gains.

Since you have a dual program unit, you can have it set up in a number of different ways depending on your mods & preferences. The single most common approach for non-Lightning F-150's is to have our dual octane setup, this gives you a pair of performance programs for operation on both 87 octane as well as for premium gas, both available at the flip of the switch so you'll have maximum gasoline compatibility and best possible performance on any octane level used.

We also have F-150 owners who we have to set up with a "Street/Strip" type of combination, where we tune it for anywhere from 96 to 110 octane unleaded racing gas on the Strip side, and then tune it for normal pump premium on the Street side, so to speak, with a few tricks thrown in on the Strip side to aid acceleration even further at the track.

It's really all a matter of what is most applicable for any modifications you may have done or are going to do, along with how you use your vehicle, etc.

The best thing to do is to give us a quick call at our number listed below, and we can go over the various options with you & how you want your vehicle to be set up, etc.
