Hypertech Uninstall

Found out something interesting today. Got the PA Valve Body installed and in the process took out my Hypertech chip while trying to reset the computer to function properly with the valve body. My truck actually feels like it has more power WITHOUT the chip!! I originally put it in two years ago at the same time I did the Gibson and the K&N. I guess that's why we should try one mod at a time!! It won't be going back in, that's for sure.

I'll be ordering the Superchip Micro Tuner around the first of the year instead!!

Hi John,

I'm sorry you got this kind of result from that Hypertech piece.

I'm not really surprised by this, as we discussed when you called, you can see anything from a small power gain to an actual loss of power with the Hypertech & other generic devices; it just depends on how close the software revision in your PCM is to the generic tuning in their programmer. This is an excellent example of generic products not being able to deliver the kinds of results that code-specific tuning does, it's always been that way.

Hang in there, it won't be too long before you get that changed, and you've got a nice valve body in there now, you're making progress!
