Hi bobwillie,

Yes, a Superchip Flip Chip originally made for a 1997 Mustang can be reprogrammed for your 1998 F-250 LD, and will fit on it's computer. It just has to be reprogrammed first, and we can handle that for you quickly and affordably.

Every Superchips has to be programmed to match not only each individual vehicle model, but the exact software revision inside it's PCM (Powertrain Control Module, usually called "the computer"), otherwise the vehicle will not start with the Superchip installed.

Just give us a quick call at our number listed below (our hours are M-F 10am-7pm Eastern) when you get a chance & we can go over the details & cost with you, as well as tell you how to locate your F-250's computer code that we'll need to program that Superchip to, etc. Also, when we reprogram an existing Superchip that somebody picks up used like that, we can also provide you with our Performance Products documentation & installation instructions that are far more detailed than the manufacturer's are, our docs will take the first time installer thru the entire process smoothly, with no surprises.
