Chip Compatability

Probably a stupid question but I would like to sell my single program Superchip to a buddy of mine. I took the chip out of my '01 L and he has a 2002 F150 Supercrew w/ 5.4L engine. Will he be able to use my old chip?

Hello CDub,

First, welcome to the forums.

Your questions isn't stupid at all. The chip would need to be reprogrammed, but would then work.

A poster in here posting under super_chips distributer can help you out with this. You can even call him on the phone for pricing and what not.

Hi Cdub,

No, he can't just plug it in and use it, but it *can* be reprogrammed for a small fee so that he can use that Superchip!

Just give us a quick call & we'll be happy to give you al the details & make those arrangments if you'd like to have us reprogram that Superchip for you. We will need to know the computer code of your friend's truck, & we'll go over that as well if you'd like to call, it's easy to find. Just open the front passenger door, and then look in the front part of the door frame, in the area of the door hinges, and there your friend should find a small sticker that has 3 letters followed by 1 number on it (like SNL4, UEV1, etc., there are many codes), and that is the computer code. If he has any problem finding it, no problem, just give us a call as we can always help you locate the code.

Your 2001 Lightning has a computer code of CXN1, for example, and all supercharged Lightnings only have just 1 code per model year, but in the regular F-150's, they have *hundreds* of different computer codes each model year, and we have to make a different matching performance program for each and every one of them.

Just give us a shout when you can & we can go over the details with you.

Thanks Rocks. Wasn't sure if the ECU connection was different from one model to the next and I didn't want to sell my friend something he couldn't use.

Hey Mike. This is Curt. I am selling that J69 chip I told you about to my friend. I told him to call you for reprogramming and so forth. I haven't had a chance to install the pulley and chip yet due to vacations and work. It is just killing me. I'll let you know when it's in and what kind of times I get here in Phoenix. The Mickey Thompsons I picked up will help.

Hi Curt!

Ahh, I see. Sure, that current Superchip with the J69 program can easily be reprogrammed for your friend's truck, not a problem.

And yes, by all means, do let us know how your performance is once you've got your new parts installed. Congrats on those new slicks, that'll certainly help. I don't use slicks at the track most of the time, just because I hate having to change tires twice, and I won't carry anything in the bed of the Lightning. But every time I do that, I sure wish I had them with me as I'm giving up 3-4 tenths at my power levels & the converter I'm using with the stock F1's.

Good luck, & let us know your times with the parts & slicks on!
