Will a 2001 5.4L be effected by a jumper Issue
Will a 2001 5.4L be effected by a jumper Issue
I know that 99 and down model trucks can have jumper soldering needed when installing a superchip but what about a 2001 truck. Is there any possibility of needing soldering. I mean any at all, has there ever been a 2001 that need soldering? Its taking quite some time to get my superchip in and running on my 99 (expect it back from superchips by friday or saturday maybe) and my father was interested in a chip but will not mess with it if it requires what ive had to do.

Hi Sixbanger,
It's not a potential issue for your 2001, or any 2000, or 2002, or 1998, or any other model year of F-150. The jumper issue can only affect a few of the early-to-mid 1999 model year units in the F-150's, so no, you can't possibly be affected in your model year, and no 2001 has ever been affected.
There have been a few very late 1998 Expiditions, and then a couple of early 2000 Rangers that had the jumper issue, those were just oddballs that had PCM's manufactured during that same basic time frame apparently, and just got used in different vehicles over a period of time until they were gone. In the F-150, that's just a few of the 1999's, no other model year.
If your PCM is not back on time from Superchips for the '99, please give us a quick call when you get a chance, & we'll follow up on that for you if there is any problem there. Usually it's a 2-day affair, and once in a while it'll go an extra day, that's been our experience over the years. If it's taking longer than anticipated on their end, please do give us a quick call so we can follow up if need be. We don't know who people are by their screen names here, so calling us the the way to let us know so we can act quickly on your behalf.
