hehe... chip & nitrous = :)

Next time at the track i'm gonna fill up on 105 octane... keep the chip in and spray a 100 shot

I don't care what anyone says bout that!

***** before Falls!

(mike :cough: :cough:... will it be ok w/ that much octane?)

Hi Talleywhacker,

Hmmm.............................I have to say up front that I don't remember off the top of my head if you have upgraded the factory fuel pump, or the *exact* specifics of your nitrous kit (wet or dry, etc.)..............

Having a full & true 105 octane getting to the motor can cause as many problems as it solves, even more so if it's not specifically tuned for. You may do fine like that, you may find the 105 supports that much cylinder pressure (if you do this, make sure you're using copper plugs & gap 'em tight!) but I have to say that I'd never run that size shot of nitrous on top of a Superchip that is not programmed for it.

Assuming you have enough fuel to the *rail*, and that nitrous kit is supplying the needed additional fuel along with the nitrous, then you just might get away with that on top of the Superchip running 105 octane. I'd never do that, at a minimum, I'd skip the 105 octane & just pull the chip to spray until youp;re actually tuned for the nitrous.

In general (and you already know this, of course), you *never* want to run nitrous on top of a performance chip that is NOT tuned for the nitrous, due to issues such as too much timing and not enough fuel delivery, literally a potential double-whammy of too much cylinder pressure & not enough fuel. Some of those concerns can be "bandaided" by the 105 octane & making sure that enough fuel *volume* is actually available to the motor, heck, you *might* get lucky & end up running just fine & doing no harm to the motor, but I wouldn't go that route in my search for speed.

Assuming the 105 octane "bandaids" you thru the too much timing issue in the Superchip, and further assuming that all the needed fuel is actually delivered to the cylinders, then you just might get lucky and have that work. It's certainly *possible*, if all those conditions are met & the planets are aligned just right, that you may be able to get away with that.

The truth of the matter is I'd really have to know more details about the exact configuration of your fuel delivery system & the nitrous kit (any fuel pump upgrade, and whether the nitrous kit delivers the additional fuel needed to match the shot of nitrous, and if so, exactly how) than what I remember off the top of my head from our past discussions to give you even so much as what I'd call a halfway safe "semi-educated guess."

My short answer is, don't do it. You'll have to forgive me here Jon, as all basic tuning principles say not to do this, though it is true that you could very well get lucky & have this work OK, I just wouldn't. The difference that proper tuning makes, but far more importantly, the difference of *not* having proper tuning can make all the difference in not only performance, but parts longevity, & whether the motor lives pulling all the way thru the rpms at load like that.

Interesting proposition, let us know what happens if you decide to try it, and don't hesitate to give me a call if you would like to go over the details of your nitorus kit & fuel delivery so I can perhaps give you some kind of decent guess as to how much of a chance you stand of getting lucky here.............
