Mike, Higher elevation tuning matter?

Mike,
My 2002 F150 4.6 auto came from the factory tuned for higher elevations, El Paso 4700+ feet. Would using your new microtuner have any adverse effects due to that? What are the ramifications of using the new microtuner at higher elevations. With the microtuner do you just plug it in and it reprograms the existing computer chip, without doing all the old stuff required by superchips before? When it give choices durring the setup process is there any documentation to help one make educated decissions on shift rpms and such? Thanks.

Hi S,

Briefly..............

Elevation is not an issue with the Micro Tuner, as each vehicle is tuned according to it's exact factory software revision. So the performance program you will get from the Micro Tuner for that vehicle will already have that taken into consideration, that is one of the benefits of code-specific tuning, making a different performance program to match each and every different factory program.

A mile high isn't much altitude in terms of tuning, we generally do not see a need for specific high altitude tuning until you're operating consistently at elevations beyond 6500-7000 ft. or so above sea level, just to give you a rough idea. The bottom line is, this will not be an issue for you with the Micro Tuner.

Yes, the Micro Tuner uploads the program very simply thru the OBD-II port, no more pulling the PCM.

You should go take a good look at our post where we announced the Micro Tuner last night, there is a separate thread there that explains it's functions, etc. for everyone to see in a central location. Give it a read so you'll be familiar with "the basics," and then please feel free to give us a call to go over any specific details, etc., we'll be more than happy to go over all of that with you thoroughly, & our phone number is just below. Thanks!
