Chip location on pre 97

On my 95 F150 the computer is located on the drivers side kick panel behind the parking break plate correct?? Well first off how do I remove the parking break thing? Mike any pics?? And if I get a chip would I really see a difference between 87 and 93 ocate, would it be a big difference? And I know the chip firms up the shifts and you dont want to make it shift hard all the time because it will wear out the pump. But is there any way the when i manually drop it into 1 (on the auto tranny) that it would crank the line pressure up so thta I could get a chirp on the 1-2 WOT shift, or is this not possible for the computer to see that I have put it in 1st. And even if I got a shift kit would I be able to chirp the tires? I have 275/60R15s and stock was 235/75R15s, these tires are exactly 1 inch sorter but much wider. Would the shift be firm enough to chirp these. BTW they ar BFGoodrich Radial TAs.

Hi Beastie,

The best thing you can do is to invest in a phone call so we can go over all of this with you thoroughly & properly.

I'll give you some brief info here for now, & then you can call us for all the details whenever it's convenient for you, etc.......................

Our Performance Products documentation tells you exactly how to get to the PCM in those pre-1997 trucks, so that's not an issue, you'll have fill instructions on doing that to guide you that will come with the Superchip.

No, the Superchip alone is usually not going to make it chirp the tires on the 1-2 upshift in most cases; the best & safest way to accomplish that consistently is to use both the Superchip to take care of the program issues and a good shift kit to take care of the mechanical issues, so then the transmission will be able to flow enough fluid *volume* at high enough line pressure, with all the various delays & retards removed too. It takes both increased fluid volume flow as well as higher line pressure and the removal of the various delays & retards in the powertrain program to make that happen so that you don't get more wear on the front pump, etc.

With the combination of the Superchip and a good shift kit installed on a light level, you'll end up with shifts that are still tolerable on light throttle when you're driving normally, and shifts that are hard & fast enough to spin the tires a bit on the WOT 1-2 upshift, as most of us love to have.

Just give us a call when you can & we'll be happy to go over all of that in detail with you!
